The Desert Difference

December 9-10, 2026

University of Arizona Yuma Agriculture Center SMART Farm

Taking place in Yuma, Arizona—one of the world’s most productive specialty-crop regions—The Desert Difference: Global AgTech Innovation Summit focuses on the future of agriculture in Yuma and other desert growing regions through interactive technology exhibits, live field demonstrations, thought-leadership sessions, and industry networking. The summit is hosted by the Yuma Center of Excellence for Desert Agriculture (YCEDA), The University of Arizona Yuma Agriculture Center (YAC), and Cooperative Extension.

A Proving Ground for Agriculture Technology

Yuma brings together the conditions that matter most for agricultural advancement: intensive specialty-crop production, compressed growing cycles, winter-growing environments, and connected agricultural infrastructure. The result is a globally recognized ecosystem where technologies are developed, demonstrated, validated, and scaled.

The Innovation Testbed

At the center of this year's summit is the Innovation Testbed, a shared field showcase where multiple technologies will operate together over Yuma’s wireless infrastructure to demonstrate a fully connected smart farm.

Exhibitors work directly with the Desert Difference team to develop tailored demonstration ideas, identify key agronomic and infrastructure needs, and create presentation formats that best fit their technology.
